Brief Update 11/4/12

heya, thanks for the comment on the last post to rebuild. you should see my rant from my personal FB page: " Dear Hurricane Sandy,
Before you I had to put my 4 yro dog down that i had for 5+ months down cause he was too mean to other dogs. He wasn't here to keep us warm when you turned off the heat.
A year before that I lost my father who loved the Jersey Shore. Thankfully he wasn't here to see what you did, and we didn't commit his ashes to the Atlantic so you could wash him back upon the shore he love
d.
Before I lost my father I went thru my own personal dramas that I'm still dealing with today. Some of which includes lost loves.
But before that I was and still am an Eagle Scout.
And long before I was an Eagle, I lost part of my childhood to sickness withe epilepsy that I'm still dealing with.
Ya know what this life teaches me Sandy? RESILIENCE  WHAT DOESN'T KILL YA, ONLY MAKES YOU STRONGER MOTHER FUCKER!!!
We Will REBUILD, We WILL come back, AND we Will be BETTER than BEFORE. Know why? Cause I/We are JERSEY STRONG MOTHER FUCKER!!"
I'd also like to remind people i have 2 other unique ideas for donations, if any one will help:
1.
I've got a joke in my head about Sandy that it may be too soon for. So I'm proposing this: get this like page to 200+ likes then I'll set up a PayPal account & start accepting donations up to a sum to be determined in comments &/or a lump sum from a pro comedian. 100% of the profits of this joke will go to donations & relief efforts in Ocean County. I will even take pix of donations & receipts as proof.... Now GO!!!!
2. Something else I'm working on is a unique type of donations. On the list pier in Seaside was a great arcade. Besides having a 100 yr old carousel, they had an 'antique' arcade games. Games that people from 25-50 grew up on over the years. I think when the pier is rebuilt if should come back and I'm getting the ball rolling on that NOW!
Above are are quotes from some status updates i did trying to fall asleep this morning
For those in my audience not reading this from  a FB post you can like my page, here: Sandy Survivors of the Jersey Shore Unite

Gone!

Not to be self centered, but this happens to me all the time: I talk about going someplace special for weeks prior to an event. then a big event like this happens. all summer 2001, i wanted to go to the top of the twin towers. then we all know what happened that september.
for the past few weeks, i've been talking about dates, and verbally promoting certain arcades at seaside and asbury park. in seaside in particular, i was talking about that arcade on the south pier that had all the old arcade games, and that big pinball game with a ball the size of a cue ball. in asbury i've been talking up the spinball museum. i don't know if that survived, but thats a major loss too if it is.
also missing from seaside and that pier area is probably the Sawmill, pizzaria & bar. that place i think had the BEST pizza, on the boardwalk, and definately the largest slice i ever knew.
another fond memory of seaside is the old tank games they had at that pier. thats been gone for years now, but forget that! the whole pier is gone!. sad to hear too that the old carousel that survived 100 years didn't survive this. oddly enough the big ferris wheel and the tower drop still survives... i guess they had a good solid concrete foundation
